Jingqu (LU-8), “Channel Gutter”, is the Jing-River and Metal point of the Lung channel. It descends and regulates Lung qi and is used for cough, asthma and sore throat.
Location
On the palmar aspect of the forearm, 1 cun proximal to the wrist crease, in the depression on the radial side of the radial artery, lateral to LU-9.
Anatomy
Between the radius and the radial artery; the radial artery and cephalic vein; the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve and the superficial radial nerve.

- Descends and regulates rebellious Lung qi
- Clears the Lung and benefits the throat
Indications
Cough, asthma, sore throat, oppression of the chest, and pain of the wrist.
Needling
0.1-0.3 cun, perpendicular insertion, avoiding the radial artery.
Moxibustion Suitability
Moxibustion is traditionally avoided at this point in some classical sources; gentle indirect moxa may be used with care.
Point Combinations
With LU-5 for cough; with LU-10 for sore throat.
