Erjian (LI-2), “Second Interval”, is the Ying-Spring and Water point of the Large Intestine channel. It clears heat and reduces swelling of the face, throat and teeth.
Location
On the radial side of the index finger, distal to the second metacarpophalangeal joint, at the border of the red and white skin.
Anatomy
On the radial side of the proximal phalanx; the dorsal and palmar digital arteries; the digital nerves from the radial and median nerves.

Indications
Toothache, sore throat, epistaxis, facial pain and deviation, blurred vision, and febrile disease.
Needling
0.2-0.3 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion, though more often needled to clear heat.

With LI-4 for toothache and facial disorders.
