This is the Ying-Spring and Fire point of the Kidney channel. It clears deficiency heat, regulates the lower burner and benefits the genitals.
Location
On the medial aspect of the foot, in the depression distal and inferior to the tuberosity of the navicular bone, at the border of the red and white skin.
Anatomy
On abductor hallucis; the medial plantar and medial tarsal arteries; the medial plantar nerve and the medial crural cutaneous nerve.
Actions & Functions
- Clears heat (especially deficiency heat) and cools the blood
- Regulates the lower burner and benefits the genitals
- Calms the Kidney and the spirit
Indications
Night sweats, irregular menstruation, abnormal vaginal discharge, genital itching, seminal emission, diabetes (wasting and thirsting), sore throat, and childhood convulsions.
Needling
0.3-0.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion, though more often needled to clear deficiency heat.
Point Combinations
With KI-6 and HT-6 for night sweats; with SP-6 for gynaecological disorders.
