Taodao (DU-13), “Kiln Path”, in the upper back, releases the exterior, clears heat and is used for malaria and febrile disease.

Location

On the upper back, in the depression below the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra (T1).

Anatomy

On the supraspinous and interspinous ligaments; the first intercostal arterial branch; the medial branch of the dorsal ramus of the first thoracic nerve.

Indications

Febrile disease and malaria, headache and stiff neck, and back stiffness.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, oblique upward insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With DU-14 and LI-4 for febrile disease.
