Feishu (BL-13), “Lung Shu”, is the Back-Shu (transport) point of the Lung. It tonifies the Lung, regulates Lung qi, and is the principal back point for cough, asthma and Lung deficiency.
Location
On the upper back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra (T3).
Anatomy
On the trapezius and rhomboid, over the erector spinae; the posterior intercostal artery; the dorsal rami of the thoracic nerves.
Actions & Functions
- Tonifies the Lung and benefits Lung qi (Back-Shu of the Lung)
- Disperses and descends rebellious Lung qi
- Clears heat and nourishes Lung yin
Indications
Cough and asthma, shortness of breath, chronic Lung deficiency, night sweats, and skin disorders related to the Lung.
Needling
0.5-0.7 cun, oblique insertion towards the spine.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With LU-9 to tonify Lung qi; with LU-5 and BL-12 for cough.
