Indications
Chronic intestinal abscess with yang deficiency: a chronic dull abdominal mass and discomfort with little heat, dry scaly skin over the abdomen, and a weak constitution.
Tongue & Pulse
Tongue: pale with a greasy coat. Pulse: deep and slow (or weak and rapid).
Modifications
For acute, hot intestinal abscess use Da Huang Mu Dan Tang instead.
Cautions & Contraindications
For chronic, yang-deficient intestinal abscess; ensure surgical assessment where appropriate. Use prepared Fu Zi.
