Indications

Cough and wheezing of many types (combined according to pattern); and constipation from dryness.

Dosage

3-9 g in decoction (crushed).

Common Combinations

With Ma Huang and Shi Gao for Lung heat wheezing; with Huo Ma Ren for dry constipation.

Cautions & Contraindications

Mildly toxic in large amounts (especially raw) - do not exceed the dose; use with care in infants and in loose stools.
