Gall Bladder 33 (GB 33) Xi Yang Guan 膝陽關 — Knee Yang Joint

Location

On the lateral aspect of the knee, in the depression superior to the lateral epicondyle of the femur, between the iliotibial band and the biceps femoris tendon.

Anatomy

Between the biceps femoris tendon and the femur; the lateral superior genicular artery; the lateral sural cutaneous nerve.

  • Activates the channel and dispels wind-damp
  • Benefits the knee and relaxes the sinews

Indications

Pain, swelling and motor impairment of the knee, and contraction of the tendons of the popliteal region.

Needling

0.8-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With GB-34 and ST-35 for knee disorders.
