This is a principal point for invigorating and cooling the blood, regulating menstruation and treating skin disorders.

Spleen 10 (SP 10) Xue Hai 血海 — Sea of Blood

Location

On the anteromedial aspect of the thigh, 2 cun proximal to the medial superior border of the patella, on the bulge of the vastus medialis muscle.

Anatomy

On vastus medialis; the muscular branches of the femoral artery and vein; the anterior femoral cutaneous nerve and the saphenous nerve.

Indications

Irregular or painful menstruation, uterine bleeding, skin disorders (eczema, urticaria, itching), and pain of the medial thigh and knee.

Needling

1.0-1.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With LI-11 and SP-6 for skin disorders; with SP-6 and SP-8 for menstrual disorders.
