Liver 12 (LV 12) Ji Mai 急脈 — Urgent Pulse

Location

In the groin, 2.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline, at the level of the upper border of the pubic symphysis (lateral and inferior to ST-30), where the femoral pulse may be felt.

Anatomy

Lateral to the pubic tubercle; the femoral artery and vein and the external pudendal artery; the genitofemoral and ilioinguinal nerves.

Indications

Hernia, genital pain, pain of the lower abdomen extending to the genitals, and prolapse of the uterus.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion, avoiding the femoral artery.

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With LV-1 and REN-6 for hernia.
