Location
On the lateral neck, posterior to the sternocleidomastoid muscle, level with the laryngeal prominence (Adam's apple).
Anatomy
Posterior border of sternocleidomastoid; the ascending cervical artery; the cutaneous cervical nerve and great auricular nerve.

Indications
